Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong multidisciplinary background to join our Hardware team. This role requires technical lead for mechanical discipline, responsible for the design and development of the company’s mechanical parts and assemblies, own DFM/DFA and manufacturability decisions from early design through production and drive mechanical design quality, documentation, supplier engagement, testing readiness, and production/field issue resolution.

The engineer will work closely with the Hardware Director, serving as their right hand in all mechanical-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

·        Lead mechanical design using SolidWorks (advanced solid and surface modeling)

·        Define mechanical architecture, interfaces, tolerances, and design rules across products

·        Translate PRDs and customer needs into implementable mechanical requirements

·        Lead mechanical design reviews, risk assessments, and technical decision-making

·        Collaborate with industrial design to balance aesthetics, usability, cost, and manufacturability

·        Own DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-ups, assembly strategy, and production readiness

·        Work directly with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure tooling feasibility, yield, and quality

·        Lead ECOs and continuous improvement based on production feedback

·        Lead design and review of molds: plastic injection molds, steel / aluminum molds, silicone molds, iron molds

·        Apply mold expertise: draft/extraction angles, parting lines, gating, venting, shrinkage, warpage

·        Select and validate plastics, metals, elastomers, and silicones

·        Consider temperature behavior, injection/process constraints, durability, and toxicity

·        Support sustainable and long-life material choices

·        Design products using ultrasonic technologies, including ultrasonic sealing

·        Define joint design, tolerances, material compatibility, and process limits

·        Lead prototyping using 3D printing and rapid manufacturing

·        Define and support testing: temperature cycling, humidity, mechanical shock, bumpers, drop tests, IP rating tests, transportation tests

·        Lead mechanical inputs for certification and compliance

·        Design for safety and compliance with IEC 62368

·        Design for required IP ratings

·        Lead mechanical root-cause analysis for production and customer issues

·        Drive corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams

·        Maintain drawings, BOMs, specifications, test reports, and release packages using “Priority” or other ERP/PLM tools.

Requirements

·        BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with more than 7 years’ experience.

·        Senior-level experience with SolidWorks

·        Proven ownership of mechanical design from concept through mass production

·        Strong experience with injection molding, tooling (plastic, steel / aluminum, silicone, iron molds) and ultrasonic sealing product design

·        Hands-on prototyping and environmental testing experience

·        Experience with design for compliance such UL/IEC 62368.

·        Strong supplier and production support experience

·        Industrial design experience or strong collaboration with ID teams is an advantage.  

·        Hands-on technical leader with strong ownership
