Israeli retail tech company Cust2Mate, specializing in smart shopping cart technology and controlled by the public company A2Z, has signed a new deal to supply approximately 2,000 smart carts to one of the largest retail chains in Australia. The deployment in the chain, which has an extensive network of over 1,000 stores, is expected to start during the first half of 2024. The size of the deal was not revealed, but according to market estimates is believed to be in the region of $15 million.
The carts that the company will supply to the Australian retail company are the Cust2Mate 3.0 carts, the latest iteration of Cust2Mate’s smart cart which was launched in January this year at the NRF exhibition.
The smart carts enable shopping and payment directly within the cart, eliminating the necessity of waiting in checkout lines. Equipped with a touch screen, built-in barcode reader, security scale to prevent unpaid items, and a camera documenting the shopping process, these carts also allow shoppers to view shopping lists and special messages and use various payment methods.
